Everwave, a German startup developing river-cleaning technologies, has raised new growth funding and secured Viessmann Generations Group as a strategic partner, aiming to scale its efforts against global plastic pollution.
The Aachen-based company did not disclose the size of the round, but said it included investments from Viessmann, regional VC KSK-Wagniskapital GmbH, existing backer SistaAct GmbH, and the European Social Innovation and Impact Fund.
With the fresh capital, Everwave plans to accelerate expansion into Southeast Asia, one of the world’s plastic pollution hotspots, and further develop its AI-powered river-cleaning systems.
Everwave launched a plastic credit system
Founded to stop waste before it reaches the oceans, Everwave builds a suite of technologies ranging from waste-collecting boats and river barriers to local recycling infrastructure.
Its approach blends hardware with AI analysis to optimize clean-up operations. The company also runs a plastic credit system, where each euro funds the removal of one kilogram of waste, a model that’s already helped recover over two million kilograms of trash from rivers in Thailand, Cambodia, and Albania.
